A Kick In The Junk

location: Nanaimo
mood: drained
Coming to the realization is the first step in any sort of rehabilitation. Drug addicts need to admit they’re drug addicts, Alcoholics need to admit they’re Alcoholics and when you’re injured you need to admit your injured. I am the type of person who over looks the small simple details and goes straight for the end result. In this case I have tried that, but there is simply one answer to the equation if I keep that attitude – Not only my wrestling career, my entire life will be changed for good and I am not going to allow that to happen.
I can’t sleep, I can’t walk, I can’t work and I can’t go to the gym- I’m hurt and I’m hurt badly. I think it started to sink in when I wanted a glass of Orange Juice and I got up to go to the fridge. Normally it’s a very painless activity that occurs in a normal persons life a few dozen times a week, but this particular incident caused me excruciating paint and discomfort that in the end didn’t not feel worth it. Not worth getting up for a glass of Orange Juice? Are you kidding me? It’s the little things in life that you take for granted. Getting up to go to the bathroom, or to get a snack or even getting in and out of your car to go somewhere. You don’t know how good you have it until its not there.
The prognosis
I have been diagnosed with a torn right quadricep – a complete run down on the injury can be found here http://healthlibrary.epnet.com/GetConte
As you may or may not know I was injured in Vancouver and because I live in Nanaimo there was a gap of a few days before I could get to see my family doctor. Little did I know that the first 24 to 48 hours in severe quad tears are the most important in the healing process which is something I will now keep in mind with any injury. Due to the size and the importance of the muscle, your body requires it to have a large amount of blood supply always stored near by. When torn, the blood from the tear has no place to go but to fill my leg, which results in extensive swelling. The reason why the first 24-48 hours are important is if you don’t catch the swelling in time you stand a very good chance at forming a blood clout - unluckily that is the prognosis I have been given.
With every string of bad news there is some good news that can come out of it, if you are willing to look on the bright side. If I come out of this injury with the knowledge of what people go through that have to deal with this pain and un-comfort for his or her entire life than I will make me think twice before parking in a handicap spot or spending the extra few seconds holding a door for someone that may have a disability. Now those are things I do now, but as a human being I know I don’t do them often enough. This whole ordeal could have been worst. It could have been my neck, my back or something that may have been permanent. I am just glad that I have people supporting me through this and if I don’t say it enough – Thank you.

Injury Update
Mar. 6th, 2007 | 05:34 pm
I consider myself lucky; I haven’t been plagued with injuries, nor have I had something that has nagged me since the start of my career. This injury, although as freakish as it might be will only keep me out of action for about a month, give or take. My official prognosis is a torn right quadriceps with severe swelling through-out my entire right leg. On the bright side of the situation I do not require surgery nor do I need rehabilitation to learn how to walk or any of the other fun stuff that goes along with a higher class tear.
I just want to thank the wrestling world, fans, wrestlers and personnel for their support in this matter. I have been asked recently why do I put my body on the line as badly as I do sometimes, well it is because of you guys that I do it and will continue to do it every chance I get.
So how long you may ask?
The doctor has told me that March 30th is not an unrealistic goal to return to the ring, but it all depends on how my recovery goes and if I do anything that will cause it to act up more which knowing my mentality ya never know :o)
The way I am looking at it, the sooner I heal the sooner I can come back and the sooner I can be sticking my foot straight down Azeem’s mouth and the mouth of Chilltown and there is NOTHING that is better than that.
Until next time..

During the weekends TV tapings in a match against Mike Dempsey I broke the bridge of my nose resulting in a not so pretty face and a lot of swelling. The match itself airs on television on May 6th 2006 on KVOS. For more information on the TV show and to view more pictures from the weekend, please visit http://www.eccw.com
I am fortunate enough to not have to miss any in ring action as there is a break between shows. I want to thank everyone for their concern and e-mails they sent. It means a lot!
Here are a few pictures from this past weekend..

This Saturday I finally get some real revenge on him for superkicking the Ice Chik a few weeks back. The cage door felt good, but it was only the tip of the Iceberg so to speak.
Tune in to find out what all went down!
This weekend I also did Cyberfights. What a great experience that was. I'll write more when I have more time.

Friday
Feb. 27th, 2006 | 03:40 pm
mood: cheerful
This friday was an good show at the bridgeview hall in Surrey BC. I took on Machette Brown in a one on one match. Despite being outsize I gave him everything that I had but after the sitdown powerbomb on the outside of the ring I was basically out of commission for the rest of the match.
I told one of my fans I would post a picture on my forum from this past weekend and I am going to keep to my word. In the picture below is Omar Sanchez - the self proclaimed dirtyest player in the game. All in all one of my biggest supporters and its a treat to have him at shows.
